Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a system of healing which has been practised in the East for thousands of years.  Although often described as a means of pain relief, it is in fact used to treat people with a wide range of illnesses.  Its focus is on improving the overall well being of the patient rather than the isolated treatment of specific symptoms. The highest standards of needle hygiene are observed at the clinic with only new sterile needles being used and then disposed of with the strictest methods.

According to Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body’s motivating energy, known as Qi, moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels. Qi consists of equal and opposite qualities; Yin and Yang and when these become unbalanced, illness may result.  The flow of Qi can be disturbed by a number of factors. These include emotional state, such as anxiety, stress, anger, fear or grief, poor nutrition, weather conditions, hereditary factors, infections, poisons and trauma.
The common disorders successfully treated by Acupuncture are:

Pains of all kind especially back pains, rheumatic pains and arthritic pains. Alcohol Problems, Anxiety, Asthma, Blood Disorders, Cardio-vascular Disorder, Depression, Gynaecology Problems, Headaches, Hemiplegia (Stroke), Hormonal Problems, Impotence, Liver Problems, Nervousness, Poor Energy, Sinusitis, Skin Disorder, Smoking Problems, Stomach Problems, Stress Problems, Tiredness, etc and much more!

Treatments

Acupuncture works by stimulating the body’s healing responses and immune system. ‘Acupoints’ lie on lines or channels in the body and are stimulated by the insertion of thin, fine needles at various points.

In recent years these actions have been systematically refined and verified by modern scientific research methods.

The flow of energy (Qi) is circulated in 14 Channels (Meridians) of the human body. Most of the Meridians relate to an internal organ, and ‘dis-ease’ is caused by a blockage in these channels.

Acupuncture purpose is to unblock the meridians, and restore the flow of energy.

Acupuncture performs well in a variety of health problems including pain, skin problems, circulation related problems, hormone related problems etc.

A treatment and preventative therapy, acupuncture provides fantastic results in combating anxiety, insomnia, and migraines, and improving general health.
